recap

After Coy Lake we headed to Halifax - Kerrs stayed with friends and Pembertons at a hotel. We had a great time with great friends - was nice to have daughters to entertain the kiddies!! Halifax harbour was awesome and the weather was perfect. Pier 21 interesting museum. Kerrs plus Jack headed off to Risser's Beach, south shore. Just a stunning spot - beautiful. Kids loved playing on the beach and with the orsers visiting us it was even better - water was freezing but the kids didn't care. We headed into Lunenburg for dinner on the water taking a ferry across the way - beautiful drive. Went for whale watching trip in the afternoon - only saw seals! Got stuck out there due to MAJOR thunderstorms - the rv was literally shaking. Had amazing lobster cook out over open fire on the beach...pretty cool, especially at 6 bucks a pound! Headed up to Bay of Fundy, five islands near Parrsboro. Beautiful view of the tides coming in out out - did some clam digging but not very successful with a kids beach shovel only! Heading home now......its been an amazing time!!

coy lake campsite

We were only there for one night - website is a little misleading as the lake access is pretty dismal....unless you like hanging in marshland :-) we have cheese, pate, and baguette for dinner....I could get used to this cheese for dinner idea!! We busted out the tent - was nice to have the tent on the site. Kids and adults all went to sleep at the same time. We needed an early night!!

HUH....WHAT....CANT HEAR YA....

LOL - that's in honor of one of the RV family members....no names mentioned!!

Janice: Day 3 - we're still talking to each other! Lovely day yesterday wandering through the streets of Vieux Québec. Awesome lunch at a little bistro. Courtyard live entertainers. The KOA was akin to $1M sardines all lined up in a can...oh my goodness the money people spend on RVs!! But despite the cramped lot, it was quiet, clean, nice pool, and a good start to our trip.

Ok, Todd's canard confit tagliatelle with fresh corn, accompanied by a dry reisling, didn hurt me any!

That's how we roll!!

Quebec City

Alison: KOA - cramped but actually suited us perfectly, and the play area and parks were great and washroom facilities very clean and plentiful. Missed the ride into the city but he was kind enough to come back - hard to keep track of time with a 6 and 3 year old....and my lack of organization skils. Had a great time in the beautiful city....especially liked the waterfront market. Bought some great food including some fantastic, stinky, yummy cheeeeese! We had lunch by the waterfront market and it was deeeeeelicious (veravin restaurant - also have kids menu)- my duck confit salad and the duck burger were awesome. Chef todd cooked us a great meal: duck confit tagliatelli with alfredo and fresh corn. I think all the other campers with their hot dogs had food envy!! We are now en route to New Brunswick...Janice and Todd burned the midnight oil - maybe Marty and I will do the same tonight....yah right!! After 10pm is my limit!!

Wednesday 27 July 2011

We are leaving today!!!

OK had a bit of a scare when Marty picked up the RV and emailed "yeah it sleeps six alright.....midgets!" - but it's actually a pretty decent size and we've managed to squeeze everything in.  Janice has to go on the roof with the kid's bikes though :-)
